Twinset Fundamentals is a PADI Distinctive Speciality Course authored by Kiwidiver Tec Instructor Trainer Kevin Black. First taught in 2005 when the DSAT Tec Deep course was a 10 day intensive course taking students from recreational divers to full technical 50m divers. The course was designed as a stepping stone for those who found converting straight from recreational single tank diving to diving with 4 cylinders too much of a step.
The course is still taught today for those wanting a one day or two day intro to tec type experience where you learn correct technical configuration of twin cylinders and long hose gas sharing. It is ideal for someone wanting to get experience and practice diving on a twinset (double cylinders) before entering into tec training.
On completion of the course you will be able to rent double cylinders for your recreational dives and dive within recreational limits in a technical configuration. This will give you the opportunity to practice things like shut down drills before starting your technical training.

• 18 years old
• Minimum of 50 logged dives.
• Minimum of 20 logged dives in a drysuit where the course is conducted in a drysuit.

Twinset Fundamentals Distinctive Speciality
PADI Distinctive Speciality Courses are courses authored by PADI Members in a specialised area where PADI currently dosnt have a program. Many of PADI’s specialities start out this way before they are developed into mainstream courses.
These speciality courses go through a acceptance process with PADI to ensure they meet standards before being approved to teach. Once they are approved to teach PADI certification cards can be issued in the name of that speciality by the approved instructor.
